Observerships for Radiologists

The Department of Radiology and Imaging offers Observerships for practicing Radiologists who want to increase their exposure to musculoskeletal imaging and update their knowledge base.

"Learn from the Best while Supporting Education"

Spend a day or a week with the global leaders in musculoskeletal imaging.

Previous Observerships have included:

  • a one-on-one meeting with Helene Pavlov, MD, FACR, Radiologist-in-Chief to discuss advancing a career to a leadership position, seeking advice on opening a musuloskeletal imaging center, coverting to digital imaging, and using PACS in an orthopaedic enivronment
  • introduction to new MRI techniques for imaging of implants from Hollis G. Potter, MD, Chief, Division of MR, and the MR Attendings
  • participation in the weekly Teaching File Conference hosted by Robert Schneider, MD and Attendings. During the conference, Fellows, Residents, and colleagues test their diagnostic skills using rare, challenging, musculoskeletal cases from the vast teaching files of HSS, many cases dating back 50 years
  • observation of Ronald S. Adler, PhD, MD, Chief, Division of Ultrasound and Body CT, using ultrasound to diagnose conditions and provide precisely targeted injections in our brand new Center for Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
  • an afternoon in our Reading Room with Attendings reviewing hundreds of current common and complex cases seen daily at HSS
  • the opportunity to see some of the latest technology in use, including proprietary MRI software and coils and our brand new weight-bearing 3-D fluoroscopy unit.
